The grant from OFID in the amount of USD 750, 000 will support the reactivation of education activities and the holistic recovery and strengthening of the education system in Haiti. More specifically, the funds will be used in three priority areas: (1) implementing a rigorous needs assessment of Haiti’s higher education sector, in order to help rebuild a higher education system that produces skills for the future and professionals who can lead the future development of the country; (2) addressing the more immediate need of providing emergency short-term training programmes in priority skills areas such as construction and sanitation work; and (3) consolidating UNESCO’s work with the National Institute for Technical Training to rehabilitate the TVET subsystem in Haiti.
