The Sex Education Forum ran an online survey for 6 weeks, from 2 November 2015 to 10 December 2015. The aim was to find out if young people have learnt about their body, sexual development and consent at school and whether or not their school SRE met their needs in this area. Questions were also included about discussions young people may have had at home.
This report summarises the findings of an evaluation, of Relationships and Sexuality Education (RSE) in post-primary schools in Northern Ireland (NI) by the Education and Training Inspectorate (Inspectorate). The objectives of the evaluation were to: evaluate the quality of the provision for RSE within schools; report on the quality of the provision for staff training for RSE; record examples of good practice; and identify areas for development within RSE.

The ASKAIDS Project involved a research project in Sub-Saharan Africa, focused on understanding how primary age pupils acquire sexual knowledge, in what contexts and how this relates to the HIV education received in schools (phase 1). The second phase produced a set of curriculum development materials in dialogue with local stakeholders.
For the past 22 years, SIECUS has tracked sexuality education controversies in the United States. In this controversy report, covering the 2014–2015 school year, we highlight trends in sexuality education controversies including the impact that social and digital media are having in the field of sexuality education, allowing for new and alternative forms of sexuality education that is accessible to students, whether through a YouTube video, a smartphone app, or a website.
People with disabilities are at increased risk of exposure to HIV, yet they lack access to HIV prevention, treatment care and support including sexuality education. Lack of knowledge, skills and confidence of educators teaching sexuality education to learners with disabilities is related to this increased vulnerability. Globally, adolescents aged 12–15 years are making sexual and reproductive decisions of profound significance for their future, often based on misguided, inadequate or dangerously wrong information. Very few countries provide evidential and comprehensive education about puberty, sexuality, and reproductive health and safety to children and young adolescents at school, when it is most effective and beneficial. UNESCO has produced a culturally applicable framework for such education, with the primary aim of reducing sexual risk behaviour and sexually transmitted infections including HIV/AIDS. …
Evidence shows that good quality Sex and Relationships Education (SRE) helps young people develop and manage their emotional and physical well-being. While they can find out about sex and relationships in many ways – including from friends, TV programmes, magazines and the Internet – school SRE has an important role in presenting balanced, factually accurate and positive information that these other sources may not always provide.
This new guidance developed by the PSHE Association, Brook, and Sex Education Forum supplements 2000 statutory guidance on SRE. This guidance has been produced to help teachers and schools to provide good Sex and Relationship Education (SRE); to offer additional support on new issues not included within existing guidance; and to provide advice which reflects updated legislation, including the Equality Act 2010. …
Sexuality education is the only subject in New Zealand schools which requires parents to be consulted on the content. Since it is associated with moral and social issues, it is a controversial topic. However, what has been notably missing from the debate is the voice of those most immediately concerned with the outcome— the adolescent.

In July 2011, UNFPA, UNESCO and UNICEF jointly organised the Asia Pacific Regional Consultation on Sexuality Education and Gender, with a Special Focus on Adolescent Girls. The meeting offered a platform for countries to share their evidence and experience and gain information and tools on how to effectively invest resources in sexuality education programs and policies.
