The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

History
Founded 13 Sep 1961, Montréal QC (Canada), as Association des universités partiellement ou entièrement de langue française (AUPELF). 1990, changes to Agence francophone pour l'enseignement supérieur et la recherche (AUPELF-UREF), on modification of the statutes of Association of Wholly or Partially French-Language Universities (AUPELF), as an umbrella organization to unite formally the activities of AUPELF and Université des réseaux d'expression française (UREF), created Dec 1987, Marrakech (Morocco), the two having worked together since the foundation of UREF. Current title adopted by General Assembly, Apr 1998, Beyrouth (Lebanon). Current Statutes adopted by General Assembly, May 2001, Québec QC (Canada).
Aims
Offer enhanced success to all university and research students wishing to further their work and French language skills, through improved mobility and access to the Agency's scientific networks; take part in a worldwide science zone capable of levelling out development inequalities between countries.

Activities
Programme (2010-2014) aims to: develop higher education and research institutions; strengthen the French-speaking university community on international science; reinforce individual skills and build towards emergence of a new generation of researchers, experts, teachers and students.
