This document provides the findings of a country assessment carried out in Uganda in the first phase of the UNESCO/UNAIDS joint project "A Cultural Approach to HIV/AIDS: Prevention and Care". This Country paper on HIV/AIDS and Education in Namibia was presented at IIEP workshop organized in September 2000 in Paris. It describes the current status and recent trends in the Namibian education sector and provides an overview of future directions and requirements, presenting programmes on HIV/AIDS in the country and their objectives. The role of education in addressing issues of HIV/AIDS is outlined, with a particular mission of the HIV/AIDS Committee and its five years plan (2001-2006). Finally, the training needs of the Ministry of Basic Education, Sports and Culture are identified.
The Regional Youth MSM and Transgender Consultation Meeting was held in Bangkok, Thailand, from 1-3 September 2010. 33 participants from 13 countries in Southeast Asia and Pacific regions participated in this meeting. Through presentations from various partners, the meeting provided the participants with key information they need in order to move forward with their activities. They were equipped with information on communication and partnership with technology, programs for PLHIV, existing regional responses and existing networks for youth and MSM/TG in this region.

In November 2009, the Cairo-based US Naval Medical Research Unit No. 3 (NAMRU-3) invited representatives from several institutions and organizations involved in HIV/AIDS-response to build a national forum consisting of partners from different sectors to combat stigma and discrimination against people living with HIV and AIDS (PLHA) in Egypt. This paper examines the relationship between education and HIV/AIDS with special reference to South Asia. The paper offers an overview of major regional trends in HIV/AIDS. It looks more closely at the links between education and HIV/AIDS as well as lessons learned. The focus here is on global experience to date, although local experience within South Asia is drawn upon where it has been documented. Finally, it considers the implications of HIV/AIDS for education and development within the region - both in relation to the attainment of EFA goals and challenges ahead.
Addressing Homophobia in Relation to HIV/AIDS in Aboriginal Communities (AHRHAAC) is a project of the Canadian Aboriginal AIDS Network (CAAN). AHRHAAC was created to look at how organizations serving Aboriginal people can help to create supportive and nonjudgmental environments for two-spirit people living with HIV/AIDS through the development of policies that address homophobia and by raising awareness in Aboriginal communities on how to address homophobia when it is a barrier to HIV/AIDS prevention and education. …
