  9. Monitoring the Declaration of Commitment on HIV/AIDS. Guidelines on construction of core indicators. 2010 Reporting

    To assist Member States in preparing and submitting their 2010 Country Progress reports, UNAIDS has released the new UNGASS Guidelines on Construction of Core Indicators for 2010 reporting. The new guidelines provide essential information on the composition of core indicators for reporting including the purpose of the indicator, methods of measurement and a summary interpretation of the indicator. The guidelines are also intended to ensure consistency of information across countries for accurate global progress analysis.

  10. Afghanistan HIV/AIDS Prevention Project. Grant No. H-328 AF. Annual project report (March) July 2007 to June 2008

    This annual project report for the Afghanistan HIV/AIDS Prevention Project includes the period from July 2007 to June 2008, including the startup period from March 2007, when PPF funds were made available. The project became effective on 17 September 2007. Six HACCA HIV/AIDS (Coordinating Committees of Afghanistan) coordination meetings were held. Several guidelines (HIV testing, TBHIV, Harm Reduction) were prepared (see Annex list). From March 2007, when PPF funds were made available, until 31 June 2008, about $260,000 were expended.

  11. National plans of action for orphans and vulnerable children in sub-Saharan Africa. Where are the youngest children?

    In 2005, an estimated 48 million children aged 0-18 years, that is to say 12 percent of all children in sub-Saharan Africa, were orphans, and that number is expected to rise to 53 million by 2010. One quarter of all orphans are orphaned because of AIDS, and about 2.6 million children are currently infected with HIV. In response to the general awareness of the increasing number of these children, a global initiative to develop national plans of action (NPAs) for these orphans and vulnerable children (OVCs), or children affected by HIV and AIDS, has been launched. …

    This power point presentaion looks at how HIV data can be used to measure HIV prevalence and incidence, AIDS prevalence and incidence and mortality. It also looks at how models can be used to understand the epidemic and its impact. Various graphical illustrations and data from Rwanda, South Africa, Zambia and Kenya are shown.
