This study assessed the policies, strategic plans and structures that have been put in place inZimbabwe to address the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the education sector. It also examined the comprehensiveness of projects and programmes currently being implemented by the government in collaboration with partner organisations and NGOs. The objective of this publication is to provide a compilation of various research findings on the impact of HIV/AIDS on education in countries south of the Sahara, which is the world's most infected region. It also presents different options available to the education ministries and government decision-makers with regard to the use of education as an instrument to mitigate the effect of HIV/AIDS, as well as a tool for its prevention.
