History
24 May 1980, following recommendations, 1973, at several international conferences. Also referred to in English as European Academy of Letters, Sciences and Arts.
Aims
Foster collaboration among nations in the fields of education, science, art and the humanities; in particular, establish a bridge between national academies of sciences, arts and humanities; analyse major problems of mankind which call for both a multidisciplinary and a multinational approach; cooperate with intergovernmental organizations to analyse and solve world problems.
