In 2015 the UN General Assembly has declared 11th February as the International Day for Women and Girls in Science (Document A/70/474/Add.2), in order to emphasize the need to achieve gender equality and empowerment of women and girls, crucial to reaching the targets of the Agenda 2030.

This year marks the second celebration of this Day, led by UNESCO and UN-Women.
The commemoration at UNESCO Headquarters also includes a Women in Engineering Workshop: “Think Pink – Hard Hat Challenge” and the exhibition "Infinités Plurielles".
