History

Founded 1 Jan 1997, on merger of Council of European National Youth Committees (CENYC), European Coordination Bureau of International Youth Organizations (ECB) and Youth Forum of the European Union (YFEU). Set up following proposals for a Common European Youth Platform, drawn up at a consultation meeting, 18 Sep 1994, Luxembourg. Also referred to as Youth Forum Jeunesse (YFJ) and by the titles of the previous YFEU - Youth Forum of the European Union -- Forum jeunesse de l'Union européenne. Registered in accordance with Belgian law.

Aims

Create a united voice at an all-European level concerning the possibilities, problems, hopes and wishes of young people; improve working conditions for youth organizations; promote issues of relevance to and defend interests of young people in Europe vis-à-vis the Council of Europe, the European Union and other policy makers; promote youth participation in the political decision-making process and the integration of youth policy in overall policy-making; promote mutual understanding and strive for equal rights.
