The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

History
Founded 1979, as a response to the lack of collaborative linkages between universities in the Americas. Most recent statutes adopted 11 Oct 1999, Québec QC (Canada). Registered in accordance with the Law of Associations, Costa Rica.
Aims
Build common spaces in higher education in the Americas to promote cooperation among members institutions; foster development of the quality of higher education across the hemisphere; encourage pooling of resources to improve quality of higher education; serve as a network of partners supporting inter-American university cooperation; provide a vision of the Americas based on solidarity and mutual assistance.

Organizes: Congress (every 2 years); Meeting on Collaborative Doctoral Programmes and Research Incubators.
