The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

History
28 Apr 1908, Switzerland, taking over the activities of Central Esperantist Office, set up Aug 1905, and Standing Committee for Esperanto Congresses, formed 28 Aug 1906. In early years, also referred to in Esperanto as Internacia Ligo and in French as Association espérantiste universelle. Universal Esperantist League, created in 1936, merged with UEA in Apr 1947.
Aims
Promote Esperanto; stimulate discussion of the world language problem; call attention to the necessity of equality among languages.
