Opened and closed by the Minister of Education who engaged in the dialogue with national education actors, the meeting launched the expanded sector dialogue mechanism which will accompany each stage of the updating of the Education Sector Plan: the PAQUET. The gathering was also an opportunity to collectively reflect on the findings of evaluation of the first phase of the PAQUET as a basis for policy dialogue and the formulation of the new Sector Policy and Plan, inspired by the SDG4-Education 2030 agenda and the changing landscape of education and development.

The Minister underscored the need for all groups of actors to improve and strengthen their internal dialogue mechanisms to ensure effective coordination and participation in the LEG as well as ensure effective communication back to the stakeholders to facilitate inclusive participation in the preparation, implementation and monitoring of the education sector plan.

The LEG will also provide a platform for alignment of interventions and support of all education partners with the PAQUET and its vision for lifelong learning in line with the new education agenda 2030. This expanded platform for dialogue and coordination will also engage in the discourse on SDG4-Education 2030 and the reflection around the relevance and quality of the education system towards lifelong and alternative modes of learning.

The Minister closed the gathering by requesting participants to “remain mobilized: the most difficult is to come”.
