Knowledge Management Services

The Knowledge Management Services at UNESCO Dakar raises the visibility of UNESCO’s work in seven countries in the West Africa/Sahel region (Burkina Faso, Cap-Verde, Gambia, Guinea Bissau, Mali, Niger and Senegal). It is responsible for communication, information and the sharing of knowledge resources of the Office both internally among staff, and externally to the media, public and private sector, academic establishments and the wider public.

  • Our video channel on YouTube and our photos on Flickr visually communicate the work of UNESCO projects on the ground.
  • All Publications serve as powerful tools for disseminating information and knowledge. All publications by UNESCO Dakar are available online on the website. Besides publications written by the sections, an annual report which provides a general overview of the Office’s activities is also published.

      Publications prior to 1992 – Publications after 1992 

  • The Research Centre at UNESCO Dakar is open to the public and offers a rich collection of publications published by UNESCO in general and UNESCO Dakar specifically. Our librarian can assist you in your research on topics related to UNESCO’s mandate. The Centre is open by appointment on tuesday and wednesday. Please contact ml.diop(at)unesco.org to make an appointment.
  • Events and Commemorations of international days serve to raise awareness of key development issues. Some examples of international days recently celebrated include: International Mother Language Day (21 February); International Women’s Day (8 March), World Press Freedom Day (3 May), International Literacy Day (8 September), World Teacher’s Day (5 October) and World AIDS Day (1 Day). Media organizations are mobilized to ensure coverage of events organized by the UNESCO Bureau in Dakar.
