The conservation and management of world heritage constitute the prinicipal axes of cooperation between Finland and UNESCO in the field of culture

Six cultural sites and one natural site from Finland appear on the World Heritage List. One of these cultural sites, the Struve Geodetic Arc, is a property that Finland shares with nine other European countries. This chain of survey triangulations contributed to defining and measuring the Earth's exact size and shape. The Kvarken Archipelago was inscribed in 2006 as an extension of the High Coast site that is on Swedish territory.

Finland has demonstrated its commitment to cultural diversity by ratifying the Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions.
