Sweden is represented on the World Heritage List by twelve cultural sites, one natural site and one mixed site.
The Struve Geodetic Arc, is a property that Sweden shares with nine other European countries. The natural site of High Coast, inscribed on the World Heritage List since 2000, became a trans-boundary site in 2006 with the inclusion of Finland's Kvarken Archipelago.
Sweden demonstrated its commitment to strengthen its cooperation with UNESCO in the field of culture by ratifying the Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions in 2006.
