In the field of world heritage, the natural site of Manovo-Gounda Saint-Floris (the country ‘s sole site on the World Heritage List) has been inscribed on the List of World Heritage in Danger following the pillaging that destroyed much of its wildlife.

The Central African Republic received assistance from UNESCO in drawing up a Tentative List for the inscription of additional sites on the World Heritage List.

The sites of places of memory of the slave trade have been listed during one of the phases of the Slave Route Project.

The oral traditions of the Aka Pygmies of Central Africa were proclaimed as a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity, while a safeguarding plan has been launched for their survival. The oral heritage of the Central African Republic related to the slavery and the slave trade was the subject of a research project.

In the framework of the Global Alliance for Cultural Diversity in support of cultural industries, the creation of a centre of excellence in the field of music is planned.
