Zambia has a natural site inscribed on the World Heritage List and participates actively in the training sessions organized by the World Heritage Centre.

The country’s Tentative List comprises three cultural sites.

The Gule Wamkulu, a ritual dance also practised in Mozambique and Malawi, and the Vimbuza Healing Dance, were proclaimed Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity in 2005. For each of these practices, an action plan has been elaborated in order to ensure their safeguarding and transmission.

In the framework of the Slave Route Project, Zambia has participated in the implementation of an inventory of sites and places linked to the slave trade and is committed to conserving the heritage relate to African liberation.

Zambia and UNESCO also cooperation in the protection of cultural industries by strengthening the enforcement of copyright legislation and fighting against piracy.
