    The country is working with UNESCO on preparing to ratify the World Heritage Convention and drawing up an inventory of its cultural and natural heritage.

    As part of the activities of the UNESCO Office in Kingston, the Bahamas is engaged in improving the efficiency of its public records and in training the necessary personnel.

    The International Year for the Commemoration of the Struggle Against Slavery and its Abolition saw the launching of several projects including restoration of the national museum and training of young people (Youth Path) in safeguarding and promoting sites through tourism for purposes of sustainable development.
