As a State Party to the Convention concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage, the Government of Chad is now involved, with the assistance of UNESCO, in raising awareness among the its employees, partners and the general population, regarding the principles and significance of this text.

The country has begun preparing a Tentative List of sites for inscription on the World Heritage List.

Chad and UNESCO are also cooperating in the field of sustainable development of cultural tourism. In the framework of the Slave Route Project, the country has participated in the listing of sites and places of memory related to the slave trade. Moreover, it is associated with the Sahara of Cultures and People project.
