Two cultural heritage sites from Ghana are inscribed on the World Heritage List, one of which is associated with slavery. Its Tentative List includes both cultural and natural heritage sites. Ghana is seeking to increase awareness of the values conveyed by this heritage among its youth.
Regarding intercultural dialogue, the country participated in UNESCO’s interreligious dialogue programme.

In the framework of the project entitled “Culture, Tourism and Development in West Africa”, Ghana took part in a study programme concerning several sites that might be developed for cultural tourism.

Through the UNESCO-WTO programme for cultural tourism in Slave Route sites, Ghana has received funds from the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD) for the purpose of creating a museum, training staff and organizing exhibitions. This funding will also be used for the restoration of several sites.
