Kyrgyzstan: Training workshop to promote the advancement of community media content

Community Media Association of Kyrgyz Republic will organize in cooperation with UNESCO Almaty a training workshop "Making radio stories" for 14 community media correspondents to enhance the coverage of social issues by studying the local social needs and promote local community based content, namely "Tun-uk" , "Barskoon", "Uch-Korgon", "Kenesh-Nuru", "Chintamani", "Suusamyr FM", "Radiomost" in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. The aim of this event is to increase the institutional capacity of Kyrgyz community media on the content production, expand their opportunities and audiences.

The agenda of the training will include:

- organizing community needs assessments;
- the new methods of coverage of local issues;
- development of radio program concepts;
- the use of open data.

Participants will be selected on a competitive basis and selection will be focused on the gender balance of which will be 7 men and 7 women.

At the training will be presented specialists and experts, representatives of community-based media and community radio, community media volunteers and managers from small cities and villages of Kyrgyzstan: Baetov village of Naryn region, Barskoon village of Issyk-Kul region, Suusamyr village of Chui region, Talas village of Talas region, Uch-Korgon village of Batken region, Kuu-Maidan village of Osh region, Tash-Kumyr city of Jalal-Abad region.

This training will take place in 2017 upon the decision of the Council of the International Programme for the Development of Communication (IPDC).
