Capacity Development & Training Programme in Gender Mainstreaming

Capacity Development & Training Programme in Gender Mainstreaming

Gender-training is one of the key methods to support behaviour and organizational change. Providing training is however, on its own not sufficient. Training is helpful if lessons are drawn from the experience, used to improve our future work and shared with others. This also applies to those organizing gender-training.

The Division for Gender Equality of the Bureau of Strategic Planning (BSP/GE) launched a house-wide Capacity-Development and Training Programme in Gender Mainstreaming.

The objectives of the Programme are to:

(i) Improve staff understanding of gender concepts and gender equality issues in relation to UNESCO’s domains;

(ii) Ensure the integration of women’s empowerment and gender equality perspectives in programme and project implementation, monitoring and evaluation with a view to promoting gender equality in all UNESCO activities and programmes;

(iii) Enhance the capacities of staff to help contribute towards the achievement of gender-related EFA and Millennium Development Goals (MDG).
