Resources in the field of Social Human Sciences and Human Rights

As one of UNESCO’s five specialized Sectors, the Sector for Social and Human Sciences seeks to advance knowledge, standards and intellectual cooperation in order to facilitate social transformations conducive to the universal values of justice, freedom and human dignity.

Resources here below were developed by, or in cooperation with, UNESCO.

1 - Good practices and training guides
2 - Human Rights Instruments
3 - Policy guidance
4 - Research, facts and figures

UNESCO's Social and Human Sciences Sector focuses on exchange of knowledge and critical thought, capacity-building and training with the ultimate goal of influencing policy changes that favour gender equality and gender equity, participation of women and respect for women’s human rights.

On the basis of research and analysis, the long term vision for the Sector is to inform and influence policy making and implementation by creating awareness about how social structures are gendered and affect the attainment of equality between men and women, boys and girls. Through advocacy and networking with civil society organizations, opinion leaders, and decision-makers, it is expected that gender equality and access to and enjoyment of women's rights will be furthered.
