UNESCO and Youth - Frequently Asked Questions
01. What does ‘youth’ or ‘young people’ actually mean?
Questions/Answers 1 of 13 Next

The United Nations defines young people as being between 15 and 24 years of age. UNESCO endorses this definition even though a certain practical flexibility is required. In our Youth Forums, for example, we usually work with young people aged 18 to 30. Given the diverse needs and attributes of young people all over the world, the term ‘youth’ has to be accommodating, and can be divided into different groups; young people, adolescents, young adults, youth, teenagers etc.
