The New Delhi World Book Fair (NDWBF) 2017, was organized by the National Book Trust, at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi from the 7-15 January 2017.  The New Delhi Book Fair is India’s oldest book fair.  The inauguration of the Fair was done by Dr Mahendra Nath Pandey, Minister of State for Human Resource Development. The theme for this year’s fair was ‘Manushi: Writings on and by Women’, in order to emphasize the role of women writers and to create a better understanding of gender issues. 

UNESCO New Delhi was part of the many exhibitors who participated in the 25th edition of New Delhi World Book Fair. UNESCO’s aim was to showcase its publications in all its fields of competence, offering the opportunity to visitors to go through over 100 titles ranging from education, natural sciences, social and human sciences, culture and communication and information. The fair was the ideal platform to meet other UNESCO enthusiasts and to update them on recent as well as upcoming programmes and activities.          

Over the course of the Fair, over 2000 visitors approached UNESCO’s stall to enquire and seek information on its publications and programmes. A selected list of UNESCO publications both for distribution and sale were on display at the Fair. These books and publications awoke curiosity of people of different ages and a wide range of professional backgrounds.  

The students and teachers from the District Institute of Education and Training Institute were particularly delighted to pick up copies of the Hindi translations of the Global Education Monitoring (GEM) Summary Reports for 2015 and 2016.

Amongst other visitors, the Journalism and Mass communication students showed particular interest in the Media Management Manual. The Migration and Climate Change book was mostly picked by research students and experts working in this field. Above all, there were passionate readers who just wanted to add to their personal collections and some of their favourite picks were: Rethinking Education; The Worlds Heritage – a Definitive Guide to all 1007 World Heritage Sites, Art of Peace, History of Civilizations of Central Asia, and The Different Aspects of Islamic Culture which come in various volumes. 

नई दिल्ली विश्व पुस्तक मेला में यूनेस्को

नई दिल्ली विश्व पुस्तक मेला 2017 का आयोजन नेशनल बुक ट्रस्ट द्वारा 7-15 जनवरी 2017 तक प्रगति मैदान में किया गया था. नई दिल्ली पुस्तक मेला भारत का सबसे पुराना पुस्तक मेला है. इसका उद्घाटन मानव संसाधन राज्य मंत्री डॉ. महेन्द्र नाथ पाण्डेय ने किया. इस साल मेले का विषय ‘मानुषी: स्त्रियों पर और स्त्रियों द्वारा लेखन’ था जिसकी कोशिश महिला लेखकों की भूमिका पर जोर डालने और लैंगिक सवालों पर बेहतर समझदारी पैदा करने की थी. 

यूनेस्को नई दिल्ली, नई दिल्ली पुस्तक मेले के इस 25वें संस्करण में भाग लेने वालों में से एक था. यूनेस्को का मकसद अपने कार्यक्षेत्र से संबंधित अपने प्रकाशनों को प्रदर्शित करना था, स्टॉल में आनेवालों को अपने 100 से ज्यादा प्रकाशनों से रू ब रू कराना था, जो शिक्षा, प्राकृतिक विज्ञान, सामाजिक और मानव विज्ञान, संस्कृति और संचार और सूचना से संबंधित थे. मेला यूनेस्को के प्रशंसकों से मिलने और उन्हें आगामी कार्यक्रमों और गतिविधियों के बारे में ताजा जानकारियां मुहैया कराने का एक आदर्श मंच था.

मेले के दौरान करीब 2000 आगंतुक यूनेस्को के स्टॉल पर इसके प्रकाशनों और कार्यक्रमों की जानकारी के बारे में पूछने और जानने के लिए आए. मेले में वितरण और बिक्री के लिए यूनेस्को के प्रकाशनों की एक चुनिंदा सूची रखी गई थी. इन किताबों और प्रकाशनों ने भिन्न आयु समूह और व्यापक प्रोफेशनल पृष्ठभूमि से आने वाले लोगों में जिज्ञासा पैदा की.

डिस्ट्रिक्ट इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ एजुकेशन एंड ट्रेनिंग इंस्टीट्यूट के छात्र और शिक्षक खास तौर से 2015 और 2016 की ग्लोबल एजुकेशन मॉनिटरिंग (जीईएम) की सारांश रिपोर्ट के हिंदी अनुवाद की प्रतियां प्राप्त करके बहुत खुश थे.

स्टॉल पर आने वाले अन्य लोगों में पत्रकारिता और जन संचार के छात्रों ने मीडिया मैनेजमेंट मैनुअल में खास रुचि दिखाई. माइग्रेशन एंड क्लाइमेट चेंज बुक  को ज्यादातर शोधार्थियों और विशेषज्ञों ने चुना, जो इस क्षेत्र में काम कर रहे हैं. सबसे ऊपर, ऐसे उत्साही पाठक थे जो अपने निजी संग्रह को विस्तार देना चाहते थे और उनकी पसंदीदा किताबों में से थे: रीथिंकिंग एजुकेशन; द वर्ल्ड हेरिटेज – अ डेफिनिटिव गाइट टू ऑल 1007 वर्ल्ड हेरिटेज साइट्स, आर्ट ऑफ पीस, हिस्ट्री ऑफ सिविलाइजेशंस ऑफ सेंट्रल एशिया, और अनेक खंडों में आने वाली द डिफरेंट आस्पेक्ट्स ऑफ इस्लामिक कल्चर.
