Pas disponible en Français.Disponible en Anglais.

31-03-2006 - UNESCO Director-General Koichiro Matsuura visited Houston and College Station, Texas, on 20 March.

In Houston he met with former United States President George H. W. Bush. The two discussed progress made at UNESCO, as well as past and current developments in international relations and diplomacy. President Bush and the Director-General praised the support shown by United States First Lady Laura Bush, who serves as UNESCO Honorary Ambassador for the Literacy Decade, and the Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy.

The Director-General then visited the George Bush Presidential Library and Museum at College Station, where he was received by its Director Warren Finch. They toured the Library and Museum, examining archival materials and exhibits on international and American history.

At the Bush School of Government and Public Service, the Director-General was received by Dean Richard A. Chilcoat. They discussed the Bush School's international focus, met students and visited the campus, including conference facilities and the Institute for Science, Technology and Public Policy. Located at Texas A&M; University, the Bush School opened in 1997 as a center of teaching and research, granting degrees in international affairs, economics and public administration, including through distance education.
