History
Founded Sep 1951, London (UK), at 1st International Astronautical Congress, by scientists from the field of space research in an attempt to re-establish dialogue, post World War II, that was deteriorating between rival superpowers during the Cold War. Constitution adopted 1952, Stuttgart (Germany FR). Constitution modified: 1956, Rome (Italy); 1961, Washington DC (USA); 1974, Amsterdam (Netherlands); 1988, Bangalore (India); 2014, Toronto (Canada). Former title in Spanish and German: Federación Astronautica Internacional -- Internationaler Astronautischer Föderation. Registered in accordance with French law.
