History

Founded 1958, by Joseph Wresinski (1917-1988), following establishment of the association 'Aide à toute détresse' in 1957, Noisy-le-Grand (France). The Movement extended through France, Europe and eventually throughout the world. Statutes adopted 6 Sep 1973, when registered according to French law as International Movement for Science and Service for a Just and Free World. Name subsequently changed to listed title. Since 29 Apr 2009, ATD stands for All Together in Dignity -- Agir tous pour la dignité -- Actuar Todos por la Dignidad. Statutes modified 18 Jan 2002.
