Information for All Programme (IFAP)

An intergovernmental Programme of UNESCO

The Secretariat of the Council is provided by the Director-General of UNESCO. It provides the necessary services for the sessions of the Council and meetings of the Bureau. The Secretariat assembles suggestions and comments made by Member States of UNESCO and the international organizations concerned. It is responsible for the formulation of specific projects, and prepares them for examination by the Council.
The Secretariat is composed of a Secretary, an Assistant Secretary and a Secretarial Assistant.
