Award Ceremony of the UNESCO-IPDC Prize for Rural Communication
The UNESCO/IPDC Prize for Rural Communication, consisting of a sum of US$20,000, will be awarded during the 28th session of the IPDC Intergovernmental Council, which will take place at UNESCO Headquarters, Paris, from 21 to 23 March 2012. This Prize is intended to recognize a meritorious activity in improving communication in rural communities, chiefly in the developing countries.
The IPDC Rural Communication Prize winner will be selected by the UNESCO Director-General on the basis of the recommendations made by the IPDC Bureau.
This Prize was established in 1985 by the Executive Board of UNESCO in pursuance of a decision of the 5th session of the Intergovernmental Council of IPDC. Since its creation, the prize has been awarded to different innovative communication experiences all over the world.
