Global Project on Microscience Experiments: Primary Level

The Primary Microscience Workbook together with the Primary Microscience Kits enable teachers and students to easily and successfully carry out a wide range of basic science experiments in biology, chemistry and physics.

Global Project on Microscience Experiments: Primary Level

Practical experiences are an essential part of learning science. However, in many countries these experiences are not possible because of cost, safety, waste disposal and teacher preparation difficulties. The Microscience Kits and Workbooks are designed by the RADMASTE Centre to overcome these problems. In cooperation with UNESCO and IUPAC, the first MicroChemistry Kits and Workbooks have been introduced to secondary school educators in more than 70 countries. The project is now extended to other areas of science and to other educational levels.

The Primary Microscience Kits are designed for easy use in primary (elementary schools). They are robust and versatile and can be used in all countries, just like the traditional, larger equipment. The kits enable students to carry out most traditional experiments, more safely and at less cost. The Primary Microscience Kits are supplied through UNESCO for use in the Introductory Workshops involved in this project.

The Primary Microscience Workbook (click below for contents by chapter) is a different matter. Each country has its own school curriculum and its own way of delivering that curriculum. The attached Workbook, divided into Worksheets, therefore provides a starting point only. These Worksheets were originally designed at the RADMASTE Centre, University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa to suit the South African curriculum.
