UNESCO, Microsoft and the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik (USEK) announced on 16 March 2006 the establishment of a Community Technology Learning Centre at St. John Monastery during a special ceremony held at the monastery premises in Byblos, Lebanon.
The Community Technology Learning Centre is an educational facility that is established by UNESCO, Microsoft, and USEK, paving the way for the individuals in the local community to access the world of information technology.

The Centre comes as part of the UNESCO communication information programmes aiming at improving lifelong learning for disadvantaged young people and adults by providing technology skills through technology learning centres.

In addition, these centres will help in decreasing the technology gap worldwide and bridge the digital divide among nations and communities.

The new Centre will include computers and peripherals, Internet access and a selection of operating as well as educational software. St John Monastery will maintain a schedule of programs and activities offering regular access to all those interested. Hence, all community members are encouraged to benefit from this ongoing training initiatives customized for different age groups and for different levels.
