“The Members of UNESCO have now welcomed our nation as an Associate Member of the Organization. I bring to you the deeply felt gratitude on behalf of the Faeroese people.”
“Our education system is highly developed, especially regarding primary and secondary school, with the establishment of a university that is gradually expanding its research and educational fields in close cooperation with universities in neighbouring countries. On average, the Faeroese people are amongst the highest educated populations in the world.”
“The Faeroes’ cultural heritage is precious to us. (…) It is one of the chief objectives in our cultural policy and an important task of our education system to preserve and further develop and modernize our language.”
“We have (…) for decades taken an active role in the well-established system of cooperation between the Nordic countries, not least in the area of cultural policy.”
“As an Associate Member of UNESCO (…) the Faeroes look forward to participating actively in the work undertaken in this distinguished specialized agency of the United Nations.
