On 7-8 December 2007, UNESCO, in collaboration with ICT4D Jamaica, organized a Workshop on ICT-in-Education Toolkit, in the framework of the EDUVISION 2007 Conference, held in Ocho Rios (Jamaica). The Conference, organized by the Jamaican Ministry of Education, and the Ministry of Energy, Mining and Telecommunication, was attended by 300 participants from 12 countries.
An ICT-in-Education Toolkit has been developed by UNESCO, infoDev and their partners to assist education policy makers, planners and practitioners in planning ICT interventions in order to meet educational goals effectively. The Toolkit contains six toolboxes - a total of 19 tools - that provide interactive instruments and step-by-step guidelines which assist users in:
- mapping the national, technological and educational situation;
- formulating and assessing ICT-enhanced programmes;
- planning physical and human requirements;
- planning ICT-enhanced content;
- generating programme costs;
- creating a master plan; and
- monitoring implementation, effectiveness and impact.
