Serbia will be hosting from 6-11 April 2013 the second SEE World Heritage Youth Forum for peace and sustainable development at Gamzigrad-Romuliana, Palace of Galerius, in Zajecar, a site in Eastern Serbia inscribed on the World Heritage list in 2007.

The event is organized by the United Nations Association of Serbia and the Commission of the Republic of Serbia for UNESCO with the support of the UNESCO World Heritage Center and the UNESCO Regional Bureau for Science and Culture in Europe, Venice (Italy).

The First South-East Europe World Heritage Youth Forum was held on 21-26 May 2011 under the theme 'World Heritage education: Networking for a Better Common Future' in 2011 in Poreč, Croatia, and in Škocjan Caves, Slovenia. This second edition of the forum, to be opened by Bratislav Petkovic, Minister of Culture and Information of Serbia,  will focus on the following themes: implementation of the World Heritage Convention;  Education, World Heritage and Sustainable Development; and the Role of youth in the World Heritage preservation and protection.

Eleven countries from South-East Europe will be represented at this second edition of the Forum: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Montenegro, Republic of Moldova, Romania, Slovenia, Serbia, The former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia.

The Forum serves to develop World Heritage educational and participatory activities and helps to establish a network for further co-operation at the regional and international level. For the students, it is a chance to meet people from other countries, learn about their heritage, to discuss common concerns and to discover new roles for themselves in heritage conservation. For the teachers, it is an opportunity to debate new educational approaches, to contribute to the World Heritage educational resource KIT "World Heritage in Young Hands", and to establish a network for future development of World Heritage Education activities.

In the course of the debates and sessions, participating schools and students will present World heritage related projects that have been developed according to the standards and guidelines of the  World Heritage in Young Hands Kit. An educational simulation of the work of the World Heritage Committee will also be represented during the Forum. Finally a Youth declaration will be adopted at the end of the Forum and presented to UNESCO.
