Luxembourg

Luxembourg joined the Organization on October 27, 1947.

Her Royal Highness Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg was appointed a UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador in 1997. She is particularly active in supporting women’s empowerment and promoting education for girls and women throughout the world.

Luxembourg participates financially in several UNESCO projects. The country, for example, participated in the campaign to restore the Crooked Bridge (Kriva cuprija) in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina, through a trust fund.

“The Family of Man”, a legendary exhibition of images of human beings by 273 photographers from 68 countries, created in 1955 by Edward J. Steichen for the New York Museum of Modern Art, is included in the Memory of the World Register.
