  UNESCO Chair in the Preservation and Management of Historic Centres (493), established in 1999 at Samarkand State Architectural and Civil Engineering Institute Mirzo Ulugbek (Uzbekistan)
 

Fields / Disciplines

Architecture, urban construction, restoration of architectural monuments, ecology and engineering related to construction and restoration.

Objectives
  • To render assistance to the governmental bodies of historical sites for perfection in monitoring in the process of the architectural heritage preservation and its management.
  • To create community based centres for the preservation of historical sits and cultural monuments, to be involved to the "University-Heritage" network.
  • The chairs activity is planned to cover the historic cities of Uzbekistan, such as Samarqand, Bukhara, Khiva, Shakrisatz etc.

Samarkand State Architectural and Civil Engineering Institute Mirzo Ulugbek.
