Saint Vincent and the Grenadines

Saint Vincent and the Grenadines joined UNESCO on 14 January 1983. The country is covered by the UNESCO Office in Kingston, Jamaica.

The Director-General made an official visit to this Member State in January 2006.

As part of PRELAC (Regional Education Project for Latin America and the Caribbean), the country receives support for the Education for All process.

In July 2007, the Bequia High School’s community radio station went on air. The UNESCO-backed Community Multimedia Centre (CMC) project - the island’s first radio station - is run by teachers and students and aimed at integrating information literacy in the school curriculum.

The country is active in the Small Islands Voice (SIV) project promoting sustainable island life.
