It is covered by the UNESCO Office in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

The country participates in Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) projects, specifically within the framework of the Ocean Data and Information Network for Africa programme (ODINAFRICA), which aims to establish a database and information exchange network for Africa. There is a National Oceanographic Data and Information Centre in the Comoros since 2001.
