Gabon has a mixed site inscribed on the World Heritage List and several other properties on its Tentative List.

It also participates in various activities related to the Central Africa World Heritage Forest Initiative.

In collaboration with UNESCO's Libreville Office, Gabon has undertaken various initiatives to protect the linguistic heritage of the Pygmies and the creation of an inventory of its intangible heritage.

Intercultural dialogue is based on activities involving the memory of the slave trade and slavery, i.e. the influence of African cultures in the Caribbean, tourism of memory, and the inventory of oral tradition linked to these events. Gabon is a participant in the UNESCO/WTO Slave Route programme.
