  • UNESCO sponsored journalism training in the Gambia

Gambia joined UNESCO on August 1, 1973. The country is covered by the Regional Office for Education in Africa (BREDA), located in Dakar, Senegal.

A distance learning project was developed in Gambia in 2003, within the framework of reinforcing teaching capabilities. The project aims to reinforce national capabilities and to improve teaching programmes in matters such as mathematics, science, technology and languages.

About thirty Gambian journalists participated in a training session which took place at BREDA in 2004. The goal was to develop basic skills for the use of information technologies including how to search the Web.
