Lesotho joined UNESCO on September 29, 1967. The country is covered by the Sub-regional office based in Windhoek, Namibia. Lesotho is deeply involved in the field of technical and vocational education, notably through the Learning for Life, Work and the Future project.

The country is an active member of the International Network of Government Officers in Science and Technology Education (INGOSTE).
