Lesotho

Lesotho joined UNESCO on 29 September 1967. The country is covered by the sub-regional office based in Windhoek, Namibia.

Lesotho actively participates in EDUCAIDS. A “Capacity Building of the Lesotho Education Sector for a Scaled-up Response to the HIV/AIDS Challenge” project is ongoing.

A UNESCO Chair in Water Management was established in 1997 at the National University of Lesotho.

Lesotho participates in the Sustainable Integrated Management and Development of Arid and semi- Arid Regions of Southern Africa (SIMDAS) programme.
