Togo

Togo joined UNESCO on 17 November 1960. The country is covered by the UNESCO office based in Accra (Ghana).

Togo signed an accord with UNESCO in July 2007 aimed at increasing its education system’s human resources.

Other projects were launched following UNESCO Director-General Koïchiro Matsuura’s visit in February 2007. They include expanding the country’s media observatory and enhancing the Sacred Stone site in Glidji.

Two UNESCO Chairs, in African thought and culture and in geosciences, were established in 2006 and 2007 at Lomé University.
