New Zealand is a member of the World Heritage Committee and is particularly attentive to heritage matters.

Thus three of its natural and cultural sites are inscribed on the World Heritage List. A special agreement has been signed between the country and UNESCO involving a certain number of dossiers covering such matters as managerial assistance and promotion of the heritage - including instruction in the world heritage - in collaboration with other Pacific countries.
