The Regional Expert Symposium on Arts Education in Asia (Hong Kong, 2004) examined the need for basic school education and the primary school to bring local and popular cultures alive by introducing them into the curriculum in a practical manner, through Arts Education.

Furthermore, Arts Education can contribute to sustaining and developing arts and crafts in less exposed areas, both at the primary and secondary levels of education, as discussed during the Regional Pedagogical Conference on Arts Education in the Pacific (Nadi, 2002).
