Meeting of National Commissions during the 189th session of the Executive Board

The Assistant Director-General for External Relations and Public Information, Mr Eric Falt, opened this interregional meeting.

The representatives of the National Commissions from all regions attending the 189th session of the Executive Board met on 29 February 2012, Room IX, from 9h30 to 12h30, in order to discuss specific issues relating to their role.

During these informal meetings which are traditionally held during the Executive Board’s sessions, the National Commissions also seize the opportunity to exchange views on recent and upcoming activities.

The main topics of this meeting were the following:

· Follow-up of the review of the cooperation of the Secretariat with National Commissions

· Regional Consultations on the preparation of Draft 37 C/4 and Draft 37 C/5

· Participation Programme

· Celebration of major events and launching of world reports at country level

· Relations of UNESCO with NGOs.
