LA ORGANIZACIÓN

Firstly, the Department monitors implementation of the recommendations of Audience Africa and coordinates the implementation of UNESCO’s contribution to the United Nations System-wide Special Initiative on Africa (UNSIA). The Audience’s recommendations and the Special Initiative provide the framework for UNESCO’s action in Africa. The priority accorded by the Organization to Africa concerns the following programmes, among others:

  • regional integration and cooperation and the establishment of regional and subregional networks
  • basic education for all children in Africa
  • science and technology
  • activities concerning the culture of peace
  • the role of African women and youth in the development of the continent.
