LA ORGANIZACIÓN

In 1993, UNESCO created the International Bioethics Committee (IBC) to respond to the major concerns raised by the progress made in the life and health sciences, in particular genetics and biotechnology. The International Bioethics Committee is the only body of an international character in the field of bioethics. It is up to the IBC to keep abreast of progress in genetics, whilst at the same time taking care to ensure respect for the values of human dignity and freedom in view of the potential risks of irresponsible attitudes in biomedical research.
