LA ORGANIZACIÓN

This urgency has become even more imperative due to the impact of globalization and the rapidly expanding role of knowledge, information and communication at the interface between society, economy, culture and technology. More than ever before, education os at the heart of these relationships and is central to all efforts to ensure that knowledge societies are grounded upon considerations of equity, respect for cultural diversity and the protection fo the common good.

Embedded within this conception is the role of educaiton as a vehicle of empowerment at all levels of policy-making and educational policies, and UNESCO will provide technical assistance in developing educational policies that are clearly targed at providing concrete initiatives for short and longer term improvement of living conditions for the poor and excluded.
